Race fans go wild for paint scheme reveals, and we tapped into that passion and decided to take things to the next level with an unprecedented contest program for Ally Racing
Ally paired up #48 driver Alex Bowman and celebrity car and restoration expert, Danny Koker to bring a historical opportunity for NASCAR fans to design their very own paint scheme
And in September 2022, we launched Koker’s Garage.
Koker’s Garage was a web-based creation studio that allowed NASCAR fans to design and save up to five paint schemes for the #48 car. The winning design would become Alex Bowman’s official paint scheme on the #48 car at the Las Vegas Cup Race in October 2022.
The platform we developed broke the car into 8 primary zones, featuring 26 detailed sections for customization. Some of these sections had up to 50+ color and pattern options. Not to mention, dozens of “stickers” designed by Danny Koker himself were offered as bonus items for fans to choose from. In total, the Koker’s Garage customization tool provided more than one million possible design combinations.
At the end of the two week submission window, Danny and Alex narrowed down the more than 2,234 submissions and chose the two finalists. The final two designs battled it out in a Twitter poll. Nearly 2,000 fans voted to determine which car would hit the track in Vegas.
The Koker’s Garage launch excited fans across all platforms giving them the opportunity to show off their creative minds and submit their own paint schemes to race in Vegas. With such positive fan feedback, sentiment, and engagement we’re planning to help Ally expand the program in 2023.
